Gregory Adonis Rutherford Obituary, Death;- The individuals affected by a shooting incident over the weekend in Morganton, which resulted in one fatality and two injuries, have been named. On Saturday, May 31, deputies from Burke County responded to a report concerning a shooting on Kathy Road.
Upon arrival, deputies reported that one individual was transported to UNC Health Blue Ridge in a private vehicle. This individual, identified as 34-year-old Gregory Adonis Rutherford, was declared deceased at the hospital, as confirmed by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities indicated that a second gunshot victim, identified as 53-year-old Jerry Jerome Benjamin, was located at the scene and subsequently transported to the hospital by Burke County EMS. His condition is stable. A third victim, Jonathan Michael Benjamin, aged 24, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and declined medical assistance, according to officials.
