Gili Brown Obituary, Death; Fatal house fire in Pittsfield linked to overloaded power strip

Gili Brown Obituary, Death; – A tragic incident occurred over the weekend in Pittsfield, resulting in the death of one individual in a house fire.

Emergency responders arrived at a structure fire located at 111 Cardinal St. just before 4 p.m. on Sunday. After successfully extinguishing the flames, firefighters found a deceased person within the residence, as stated in a press release issued by the Pittsfield police and fire departments.

The victim has been preliminarily identified as 58-year-old Gili Brown, a resident of the home. An autopsy was conducted by the chief medical examiner’s office to verify her identity.

In accordance with standard protocol for fatal fire investigations, the state fire marshal’s office was summoned to the scene. Investigators concluded that the fire was initiated by an overloaded power strip, as reported in the release.

No further injuries have been reported. Authorities have not disclosed whether any smoke detectors were installed or operational at the time of the incident. The investigation is still in progress.
