GENERAL NEWS; – Over 100 organizations and more than 5,000 individuals are anticipated to participate in the inaugural Climate Week in Los Angeles, commencing this Sunday. Events will be hosted at over 85 locations throughout the city, where activists, researchers, and business leaders will engage in discussions aimed at addressing the pressing issue of climate change.

The event’s official website highlights a variety of activities designed for the Los Angeles community to collaborate, share insights, and develop local climate solutions. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from climate organizations, policymakers, innovators, businesses, and change agents from Los Angeles and beyond, focusing on pioneering solutions to climate change.

Climate Week is being coordinated by the non-profit organization Collidescope Foundation in partnership with Terra.do, which identifies itself as a comprehensive network of climate professionals, employers, experts, and newcomers, all driven by a shared commitment to confront the significant challenge of climate change facing this generation. This initiative in Los Angeles is modeled after New York City’s Climate Week, scheduled for September 22-29 this year.

The opening ceremony is set to take place from 5 to 10 p.m. on Sunday at House of Cocotte, located at 2028 E. Seventh St. in the Arts District of downtown Los Angeles. The event will feature a red carpet, an immersive art installation, and a vegan buffet.

Notable speakers at the opening ceremony will include Nancy Sutley, the deputy mayor of Los Angeles for energy and environment; Jerome Foster from the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council; Hungarian author Diana Urge-Vorsatz, who serves as vice president of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change; Susan Goldsmith, sustainability lead for Deloitte US; Kayalin Arkens-Irby, head of growth for Planet FWD; animal rights advocate Genesis Butler; Kristy Drutman, co-founder of Green Jobs Board; and environmentalist and influencer Isaias Hernandez, known as Queer Brown Vegan.

Several events will occur earlier on Sunday, including “Electric Dreams: Transforming Homes for a Greener Tomorrow,” sponsored by the Sierra Club’s Los Angeles chapter. The agenda for Monday includes “Shifting Climate.”
