GENERAL NEWS; – The Ohio State Buckeyes football team is set to commence their season at Ohio Stadium this weekend. However, prior to the kickoff, the Better Business Bureau of Central Ohio has issued a cautionary notice for enthusiastic fans eager to support the team in person.
“During the Ohio State football season, it is an opportune moment for scammers to exploit fans,” stated Judy Dollison, President of the BBB of Central Ohio. “We understand that fans can become overly excited and may make decisions they would typically avoid.”
Dollison emphasized the necessity of being aware that scammers might present images of counterfeit or previously used tickets, leaving unsuspecting purchasers unaware that their “ticket” will be invalid at the entrance on game day. Therefore, if you intend to make a purchase, it is crucial to evaluate your source. The BBB recommends utilizing an official ticket vendor.
“In this instance, that would be the Ohio State Athletic Office,” Dollison advised. “However, if you opt to go through a reseller or broker, ensure that you are dealing with a reputable source. Additionally, verifiedticketsource.com, a platform associated with the National Association of Ticket Brokers, can verify the authenticity of the ticket seller you are engaging with.”
It is advisable to check the actual face value of the tickets, as scammers frequently attempt to lure buyers with attractive low prices. Conduct thorough research regarding the ticket details.
“Pay attention to specifics such as the block, row, and seat information on the ticket,” Dollison noted. “We observed similar issues during the Taylor Swift concerts, where individuals would purchase tickets only to discover, after payment, that the information was incorrect or incomplete. Sometimes the date was accurate, but the venue was not.”
Furthermore, exercise caution with unfamiliar websites or advertisements on social media. Avoid clicking on any link indiscriminately.
