Gendie Miller Obituary, Death; – A woman from the United States lost her life after being struck by a falling tree branch while attending her teenage daughter’s softball tournament. The deceased, identified as Gendie Miller, 49, hailing from Pennsylvania, had sought refuge beneath a tall tree with her husband, Bill Miller, when the branch fell on her on Thursday (July 24).
She was observing her daughter, Marlee, 16, participating in the Western PA College Showcase softball camp at Renziehausen Park, in front of potential college coaches. According to Mr. Miller, he suddenly heard a loud cracking sound and rushed to guide his wife of 17 years away, as reported by the New York Post.
“I told my wife, ‘Let’s go.’ I leaped out of my chair, felt a small branch brush against my leg. I immediately turned to my right to check on her, and she was lying face down, covered with large branches and limbs,” he recounted.
Bystanders quickly intervened and removed the branches, but the injuries sustained were too grave. When emergency services arrived, Ms. Miller was transported by ambulance to Forbes Hospital Trauma Center in Monroeville. Unfortunately, before reaching the hospital, Ms. Miller ceased breathing and was declared dead upon arrival.
“It was such a traumatic experience, and given the heavy weight of the branch and limb, it was devastating. I can assure you that she did not die from heart failure, as her heart was too large,” Mr. Miller stated.
Marlee’s coach, Michael Mull, started a GoFundMe page to help the Millers through the sudden tragedy. As of the last update, Rs 44 lakh ($51,500) had been raised for the family.
