Gary Ruby Obituary, Death; – A man admitted to the murder of his 73-year-old partner, concealing the body in a bathtub filled with concrete, and appropriating the victim’s luxury possessions until his arrest.
As per an arrest warrant acquired by People, 26-year-old Juan Baron confessed to law enforcement that he had killed his 73-year-old partner, Gary Ruby, after Ruby disclosed that he had tested positive for HIV.
Baron is said to have strangled Ruby using a belt, transported him to the bathroom’s bathtub, and cut his wrists to make the death appear as a suicide. Reportedly, Baron informed the police that upon discovering bags of concrete in the garage, he opted to hide Ruby’s body in the bathtub by pouring cement over it and masking the odor with coffee grounds.
Following the murder, authorities stated that Baron continued to reside in Ruby’s $1.2 million residence and drove the victim’s Audi A6. He allegedly told police that he contemplated “fraudulently acquiring” the house using forged documents after Ruby’s death.
Baron escaped Hawaii with a companion after realizing that law enforcement was pursuing them, and the 26-year-old was located in California, concealed in a crawl space on a bus bound for Mexico, as reported by the outlet.
Baron reached a plea deal that required him to plead guilty to Ruby’s murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
