Gary Lansky Arrested; – A 73-year-old man has been charged following an assault on a 7-year-old girl at a park in Detroit on Tuesday, as reported by law enforcement officials. The incident occurred at Lloyd H. Ryan Playground, located near Ford Road and the Southfield Freeway, at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
Gary Lansky, a resident of Detroit, faces charges including assault with intent to murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and felonious assault. Saida Mashrah recounted to Fox 2 Detroit that she was at the park when the man attacked her with a knife.
“A man approached me,” Mashrah stated. “He lifted my face and in his other hand was a knife. He appeared suddenly and slid the knife against me.”
Mashrah mentioned that she kicked the assailant and fled towards her grandmother, who was present at the park.
Authorities transported her to a nearby hospital, where she received treatment for a cut on her neck and is reported to be in stable condition, according to police. Investigators do not consider the incident to be a hate crime, as family members indicated that the 73-year-old man may be experiencing mental health issues.
