Gary Landyn Jacobs Obituary, Death; – A family in North Carolina is grieving the loss of their son following a tragic accident that claimed his life.

Gary Landyn Jacobs passed away on Thursday morning due to a crash in Lake Waccamaw. The 17-year-old was en route to his job at 4 a.m. when his vehicle collided with a tree. Josh Simmons, Jacobs’ uncle, stated that he was heading to engage in the activity he cherished, working at his family’s logging enterprise.

“What he was going to do that morning … he wanted to be in the logging woods, he was going to work,” Simmons remarked. “Without a doubt, anyone who knew Landyn understood he was destined to be leading a crew in the logging woods alongside his brother and father.”

Jacobs received medical assistance at the site of the accident but succumbed to his injuries.

His family mentioned that he was accumulating funds in preparation for returning to school for his senior year, with aspirations of completing his final baseball season.

“He was vibrant, a go-getter, and a jokester on the baseball field who brought joy to everyone. He was exceptional at second base. Recently, he earned the MVP title at our eastern tournament,” Simmons noted.

In addition to his on-field pursuits, Jacobs shared interests with friends off the field as well. “He took pleasure in riding four-wheelers. They equipped their four-wheelers with snorkels and ventured into ponds with them, which they thoroughly enjoyed,” Simmons added.

Family and friends express that it is a tragedy for his life to have been cut short, yet they are relying on one another and the community to navigate this challenging period.

“We are all about family, and if one of us is in pain, then we all feel it. We support one another, including his mother, father, and aunt,” Simmons stated.

A candlelight vigil is scheduled to take place in his memory on Saturday night.
