Garrett Remillard Arrested; – A 24-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the shooting death of another man on Thursday morning outside a residence in Long Beach.
The incident was reported around 5:15 a.m. on Thursday in the 2000 block of Harding Street, close to Cherry Avenue. The deceased man’s body was located on or near the driveway of the home, adjacent to an auto repair shop.
The victim was discovered with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body and succumbed to his injuries at the scene, where shell casings were found scattered on the ground in front of the residence. It remains unclear if the victim resided at the location. Authorities have not disclosed his identity.
During the investigation, officers were dispatched to the vicinity of 49th Street and Del Amo Boulevard following a report of an individual experiencing a potential mental health crisis, as stated by the Long Beach Police Department on Friday. A 24-year-old man, identified by law enforcement as Garrett Remillard, was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder after he allegedly made statements linking himself to the homicide. Bail has been set at $2 million. Records from the LA County jail do not indicate an initial court appearance.
Information regarding a motive was not available early Friday; however, police indicated that the victim and Remillard were acquainted with one another.
