Frank Harwood,Dave Tysdal Obituary, Death;- Two firefighters from north Idaho and a third individual injured in a shooting ambush in Coeur d’Alene on Sunday have been named.
Members of the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department, along with Kootenai County Fire & Rescue, conducted a joint press conference on Monday to disclose the identities of the firefighters and provide their perspective on the ongoing investigation.
The two firefighters who lost their lives were Kootenai County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Frank Harwood, aged 42, and Coeur d’Alene Firefighter Dave Tysdal, aged 47. The injured Coeur d’Alene firefighter has been identified as Battalion Chief John Morrison, aged 52, who is presently hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
“These individuals were committed firefighters,” officials remarked during the poignant press briefing.
“Yesterday marked one of the darkest days in the history of these organizations,” officials stated.
A further procession to honor the fallen firefighters is anticipated on Tuesday morning.
Governor Brad Little has mandated that flags be flown at half-staff in tribute to the firefighters.
