Francis Alcantar-Chavez Obituary, Death; – Authorities conducting an investigation into a deadly officer-involved shooting have confirmed that the individual who died was 23-year-old Francis Alcantar-Chavez from Tempe, Arizona, as reported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Chavez was being sought in relation to a double homicide that took place on June 15 in Taylor, Arizona. According to police, he is accused of murdering his mother and stepfather.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, MSHP Troopers received information that the Concordia Police Department was pursuing a motorcycle operated by a suspect later identified as Chavez, who was wanted for a homicide in another state, as stated in a media release from the Patrol.

The police lost track of the motorcycle near 120th Road, south of Interstate 70, in rural Saline County. Additional officers were deployed to the area to locate the suspect. Just before 8 p.m., Troopers in the vicinity spotted a motorcycle and rider that matched the suspect’s description traveling westbound on 115th Road towards Belmont Avenue.

The motorcycle collided with a Trooper’s patrol vehicle, and the suspect fled the scene of the crash. The Trooper pursued him. Armed with a handgun, the suspect fired at the Trooper, hitting his bullet-resistant vest. The Trooper returned fire, striking the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The Trooper was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
