Felisha Stout Arrested; – A 10-month-old infant tragically lost her life in a devastating crash attributed to road rage involving two drivers, one of whom was the child’s mother, according to Indiana authorities.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office reported that the operators of a Nissan Rogue and a Jeep Liberty were heading westbound on County Road 400 North on June 27 when they became engaged in a “back-and-forth road rage incident.” The Nissan, operated by 29-year-old Deondra Moore, veered off the road and collided with multiple trees before igniting, as stated by authorities.
Moore managed to escape, along with a 10-year-old boy and a 10-month-old infant. However, another passenger — a second 10-month-old — was trapped inside the SUV, and deputies were unable to approach due to the “intense flames,” according to officials. By the time firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, the infant had succumbed, as reported by the sheriff.
The child was identified as Khleja’nae L. Sims. Authorities indicated that the driver of the Rogue, 26-year-old Felisha Stout, fled the scene but returned a few minutes later. She has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash and is currently held on a $20,005 cash bond. Moore faces charges of reckless homicide, as stated by the sheriff, who noted that she is being held on a $15,005 bond. “The circumstances surrounding this crash are undeniably inexcusable,” Captain Derek J. Allen remarked in a statement.
“The individuals arrested are being held accountable for their actions and for the death of the defenseless Khleja’nae.” LaPorte County is located approximately 65 miles southeast of Chicago.
