Felipe Millan-Gomez Obituary, Death; Michigan man killed by Arkansas State Police after brandishing weapon in traffic stop

Felipe Millan-Gomez Obituary, Death; – The Arkansas State Police have confirmed the identity of the individual who was fatally shot during an officer-involved incident near Carlisle on Wednesday as 33-year-old Felipe Millan-Gomez.

Millan-Gomez, originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, was being sought by authorities in Manistee County for his involvement in an armed carjacking and kidnapping that occurred on Monday, June 9.

According to police reports, during the carjacking, Millan-Gomez allegedly threatened a woman with a firearm, compelled her to drive, and subsequently took control of her vehicle. Authorities also indicated that he was considered armed and dangerous.

State police reported that they apprehended Millan-Gomez on Interstate 40 at the 18-mile marker close to Carlisle. This incident took place around 1:30 p.m. Upon exiting the vehicle, Millan-Gomez displayed a weapon. In response, troopers discharged their firearms at Millan-Gomez, resulting in his death.
His remains are currently being transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab.

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Arkansas State Police is actively investigating the shooting. Once the investigation is concluded, the findings will be submitted to the Lonoke County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, which will assess whether the use of deadly force was in accordance with Arkansas state law.
