Eva Mulberry,Betty Hillard Obituary, Death;- An 89-year-old woman and her 91-year-old relative tragically lost their lives in an accident involving a dump truck that crashed into a restaurant, according to Kentucky authorities. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office reported that the two women were passengers in a Chevrolet Equinox that had come to a stop at an intersection in Walton on April 8. The 66-year-old driver of the SUV attempted to make a left turn, inadvertently entering the path of a dump truck transporting gravel.

Despite the dump truck driver’s efforts to avoid the collision, the truck struck the SUV, causing it to veer off the road, hit a guardrail, and overturn, ultimately resting on its roof. The sheriff confirmed that both women, identified as 91-year-old Eva Mulberry from Williamstown and 89-year-old Betty Hillard from Lexington, died at the scene. The dump truck also left the roadway, colliding with four parked vehicles before crashing into Boonedocks Pub and Grub.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the six individuals present in the restaurant at the time of the incident. Amanda Dearing, an employee at the establishment, described the event to WCPO, stating, “We heard it, and then it came through the building, and then glass, everything just went everywhere. It sounded like a freight train going through a wall.”

Both drivers were transported to a hospital for medical attention, with the SUV driver suffering from “critical life-threatening injuries,” while the dump truck driver sustained only minor injuries. The sheriff indicated that neither driver appeared to be impaired or speeding at the time of the accident.

An investigation is currently underway, with authorities suggesting that limited visibility at the intersection may have played a role in the crash. Boonedocks Pub and Grub expressed their sorrow over the incident in a Facebook post, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic accident. Everyone’s thoughts and prayers should be with the families of the two ladies who lost their lives this evening, as well as the driver of the vehicle.”
