Esteban Lopez Obituary, Death; – Columbus police are currently conducting an investigation into a fatal incident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle that took place on Tuesday night.
The incident, which involved a pedestrian and a gray or black GMC pickup truck, occurred on St. Mary’s Road at Leary Avenue at approximately 9:45 P.M. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan has confirmed that the pedestrian was identified as 29-year-old Esteban Lopez from Mexico. Lopez was declared deceased at 10:04 P.M. in the emergency room at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown campus.
Lopez’s body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy. The identity of the driver has not yet been disclosed, but it has been reported that they were detained at the scene.
The Columbus Police Department’s Motor Squad is actively investigating the matter.
