Erik Tijerina Obituary, Death; – No arrests have yet been made as authorities identify the individual who was shot and killed in southeast Austin last week. The incident occurred in the early hours of December 13 on Thrasher Lane, close to Montopolis Drive and U.S. 183.
Law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire and discovered an unresponsive man in the front yard of a residence, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on December 15.
The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Erik Tijerina. Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that multiple shooters were involved in an exchange of gunfire in the vicinity, resulting in Tijerina being struck while he was in the front yard. It remains uncertain whether Tijerina was participating in the altercation or was merely an innocent bystander.
Tijerina’s death is being classified as the 69th homicide in Austin for the year 2024.
