Emanuel Johnson Obituary, Death; – The father of Emanuel Johnson expressed that the loss of his son is particularly difficult to grasp, given that his life began with a struggle for survival.
Emanuel, aged 15, was fatally shot on Thursday night during a double shooting incident on the northwest side of the city. On Friday evening, his mother, Noora, was too overwhelmed to participate in an interview; however, his father, Frederick Jackson, consented to a brief discussion. In a five-minute conversation, Jackson recounted how Emanuel narrowly survived his birth alongside his twin sister.
“She is facing challenges now because they were delivered via C-section,” Jackson explained. “He nearly did not survive due to her larger size and his smaller stature. The umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, and he was black and blue upon delivery.”
Jackson shared that his son, affectionately known as Manny, had grown significantly, which was a topic of their last conversation prior to the tragic event. “The last time I saw him, I remarked, ‘Wow, you’re going to be taller than me,’” Jackson reminisced. “I can no longer refer to you as my little boy because you’re going to surpass your older brother in height.”
According to Milwaukee police, two teenagers were shot around 9 p.m. on Thursday near the intersection of N. 60th St. and W. Carmen Ave. A 16-year-old sustained injuries, while Emanuel was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Emanuel was the deceased teenager. Authorities are currently searching for one or more unidentified suspects. A neighbor in the vicinity provided CBS 58 with surveillance footage capturing the sound of a gunshot, followed by an individual entering an SUV that sped away.
“I have a suspicion,” Jackson stated when asked if he knew who was responsible for his son’s death. “I believe they are scared and on the run, and they ought to be.” Jackson noted that his son was in the process of dropping off his girlfriend from work when the shooting occurred. Both Jackson and Emanuel’s older brother remarked that the teenager had interests typical of a boy his age.
