Elijah Johnson Obituary, Death; – Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd has reported that an “armed and dangerous” individual is evading capture following the shooting death of another man on Tuesday night.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at Home Suites near the I-4 and U.S. 27 interchange in Davenport at approximately 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered Elijah Johnson lying unresponsive on the ground. He was promptly transported to the hospital, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses informed investigators that they observed the suspect, later identified as 29-year-old Angel Gonzalez-Morales, enter a red sedan with another individual, only to exit shortly thereafter and flee into the woods.
Deputies located the vehicle at a nearby McDonald’s situated off U.S. 27 and Sand Mine Rd., and apprehended the driver, 39-year-old Angel Efrain-Reillo.
As of Wednesday afternoon, however, Gonzalez-Morales remains at large.
“Angel Gonzalez-Morales should be regarded as armed and dangerous,” Judd stated in a press release. “If anyone has information regarding his location or sees him, they are urged to call 9-1-1 immediately. He was last observed heading towards the woods behind the hotels located just east of US 27 and north of I-4.”
