Elder Aleki Langi Obituary, Death; = The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has confirmed the tragic death of one of its missionaries in a hit-and-run incident on Beatties Ford Road. Elder Aleki Langi, an 18-year-old from Utah, was serving a temporary mission in Charlotte when the accident occurred. According to witnesses, he was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk when he was struck.
Another missionary sustained injuries, and police are currently searching for the driver responsible for the collision. Witnesses reported that a second vehicle was involved, driving erratically, which led to the crash. The police have yet to verify this information. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the loss of Elder Langi, who was killed on Thursday, May 1, 2025, when a car driver apparently lost control and veered onto the sidewalk.
A second missionary was also injured but has since been treated and released from the hospital, while a third companion was unharmed. Elder Langi began his missionary service in March 2025 and hailed from the Magna 2nd Ward in the Salt Lake Utah West Stake. He was temporarily assigned to the North Carolina Charlotte Mission while awaiting a visa to serve in the Jamaica Kingston Mission.
