Efrain Lara Jr Obituary, Death; – The coroner’s office has confirmed the identity of the individual who lost his life in a crash in Fresno County on Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Thursday at approximately 7 a.m. in the vicinity of Buttonwillow and American avenues.
During the event, a man was pronounced dead at the scene – the Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified him as 28-year-old Efrain Lara Jr. from Farmersville. Initially, CHP reported that the man was from Exeter.
An investigation has shown that a 64-year-old woman from Reedley was operating a Toyota Prius on American Avenue when she proceeded into the intersection to execute a left turn onto Buttonwillow Avenue.
Simultaneously, officers indicate that Lara Jr. was driving a Honda Accord on Buttonwillow Avenue, which lacks traffic controls at the intersection. The Toyota subsequently entered the intersection directly in the path of the Honda.
Lara Jr. reportedly applied the brakes and steered left in an attempt to evade the collision, but the front ends of both vehicles collided. He was declared dead at the scene, while the woman driving the Toyota was airlifted to the hospital – her current condition remains unknown.
