Edward Townsend Obituary, Death; – A man wanted for murder in South Carolina was arrested on Wednesday, police said.
James Singleton was accused of shooting Edward Townsend at the Palmetto Place Apartments in Lancaster on Monday, Aug. 11.
Lancaster police said they found Townsend with a gunshot wound and took him to the hospital, where he died.
Singleton was identified as a suspect during the investigation, and less than 48 hours after the alleged murder, Singleton was arrested in Rock Hill on Wednesday morning.
“We are pleased to have achieved a quick resolution in this case, providing justice for the Townsend family,” the Lancaster police chief said in a statement. “We want to thank our law enforcement partners, the public, and the news media for their assistance in sharing Mr. Singleton’s photo and providing tips for our investigation.”
