Edgar Dixey III Obituary, Death; – The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the man who was found deceased following a fire at a residence in Old Jefferson early Saturday morning.
Firefighters located the remains of Edgar Dixey III, aged 74, within his home situated in the 3000 block of D’Aquin Street. An autopsy is set to take place on Monday. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that he was discovered with “fire-related injuries.”
Responding to the incident at approximately 12:55 a.m., crews from the East Bank Consolidated Fire Department arrived after a report of a house fire at the single-family dwelling, as stated by Sgt. Brandon Veal, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.
After extinguishing the fire, firefighters found Dixey’s body in a room. He was declared dead at the scene. While authorities have labeled the fire as “accidental,” the cause of the incident remains under investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
