Earl Lee Evans III,Karen Renee King Obituary, Death; 5 people killed, including a child, in 2 separate Birmingham weekend wrecks

Earl Lee Evans III,Karen Renee King Obituary, Death; – Authorities have disclosed the identities of five individuals who lost their lives in two tragic traffic accidents in Birmingham over the weekend.

Among the deceased was a young boy. On Sunday, three individuals from a single vehicle were killed in a collision involving two vehicles on Arkadelphia Road at Eighth Terrace West. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims as Caiden Evans, 6, from Birmingham; Earl Lee Evans III, 36, from Pleasant Grove; and Karen Renee King, 36, also from Birmingham.

The incident occurred at 4:53 p.m. Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates reported that King was operating a Ford Crown Victoria when it collided with a Chevrolet Traverse. While it appeared to be a head-on collision, this detail has not yet been confirmed by authorities.

Evans, a passenger, was declared dead at the scene at 5:10 p.m. King was transported to UAB Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries at 6:08 p.m. Caiden was taken to Children’s of Alabama, where he was pronounced dead at 5:33 p.m.

Additionally, the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service transported two other individuals to the hospital, but their conditions have not been disclosed. The investigation is ongoing, led by Birmingham police.

On Friday, two men lost their lives in a single-vehicle accident on Bessemer Road in Birmingham. Coroner’s officials identified the victims as Kendrick Lawayne Robinson, 33, from Ohio, and Michael Anthony Walker, 38, from Birmingham.

Birmingham police and firefighters were dispatched shortly before 8 p.m. to the scene of the single-vehicle crash in the 900 block of Bessemer Road, where 911 callers reported one man lying in the street and another trapped inside the vehicle. First responders arrived to find an SUV that had collided with a tree.

Authorities indicated that Walker was driving the Chevrolet Trailblazer and had to be extricated from the wreckage, where he was pronounced dead at 8:50 p.m. Robinson, the passenger, was taken to UAB Hospital, where he died at 8:37 p.m. This crash is also under investigation by Birmingham police.
