Dunyadar Gasanov Arrested; – A trucking company owner was sentenced on Thursday to two months in prison, followed by one year of supervised release, for providing false information to investigators after one of his trucks was implicated in a crash that resulted in the deaths of seven motorcyclists in New Hampshire.

Dunyadar Gasanov, 39, entered a guilty plea in Springfield, Massachusetts, in August to three counts of making false statements to investigators concerning the 2019 incident involving a driver from his car transport company, Westfield Transport Inc.

As part of his sentence, Gasanov is barred from commercial driving during his supervised release and is required to pay a special assessment fee of $300. He was accused of falsifying driver logs to circumvent federal highway safety regulations, including exceeding the permissible driving hours. Additionally, he misled federal investigators regarding his instructions to at least one employee to disable electronic logging devices to allow for extended driving hours.

Gasanov also provided false information about the duration of his acquaintance with the driver, Volodymyr Zhukovskyy, who was detained by immigration authorities after being acquitted of the charges related to the fatalities in New Hampshire.

Zhukovskyy, who had consumed heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine on the day of the incident, was reported to have swerved erratically before the crash and admitted to causing it. However, a judge dismissed eight impairment charges against him, and his defense attorneys argued that the lead motorcyclist was intoxicated and inattentive, leading to the collision with Zhukovskyy’s truck, which was towing an empty flatbed trailer.

Gasanov faced a maximum sentence of five years in prison, one year of supervised release, and a $10,000 fine for each count. His co-defendant, Dartanayan Gasanov, has pleaded not guilty and is currently awaiting trial. Both individuals were indicted in 2021.
