Duncan Brass Obituary, Death; – Duncan Brass, aged 39, passed away after being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Locust and Garfield Street in Butte at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Authorities are actively searching for the driver of the vehicle, who fled southbound on Garfield Street.
Officials suspect that the driver turned west onto Grand Avenue, and the vehicle is thought to be dark in color. Authorities are urging anyone with information to reach out to the Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement Department at 406-497-1120.
The investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Butte Police, Montana Highway Patrol, and the Butte-Silver Bow Coroner’s office. The following statement was issued by Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement:
On July 19th at approximately 12:30 AM, Butte Police, Butte Fire Rescue, and A-1 Ambulance responded to the intersection of Locust and Garfield Streets in Butte following reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. A 38-year-old man from Butte had been struck by a vehicle at that location. Emergency medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The suspect vehicle was traveling southbound on Garfield Street at the time of the incident. The vehicle did not stop and is believed to have continued southbound on Garfield Street to the intersection with Grand Avenue, where it likely turned west. The suspect vehicle is thought to be dark in color. As of this announcement, neither the suspect vehicle nor the driver has been found.
The Butte Police are receiving assistance from the Montana Highway Patrol and the Butte-Silver Bow Coroner’s office in their investigation. We encourage anyone with information regarding the accident or who may have been in the vicinity to contact our department. We are also appealing to individuals with home security cameras that may have captured footage of the victim or the suspect vehicle around the time of the incident.
The body of the deceased male has been sent to the Montana State Crime Lab for an autopsy. Family members have been notified. However, the identity of the deceased male is not being released at this time.
