Dr Syed Imam Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified the person killed in a crash involving a car and a semi-truck Thursday afternoon near Monmouth as Dr. Syed Imam, 44, of Peoria.
According to Illinois State Police, the crash happened around 2:32 p.m. on May 15 in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 67 near 185th Avenue. The crash involved a passenger car and a tractor-trailer.
Troopers with ISP Troop 4 responded to the scene, and the northbound lanes of U.S. 67 were shut down for several hours, reopening around 8:50 p.m. OSF HealthCare confirmed Imam’s death in a statement:
“We are deeply saddened to confirm that Dr. Syed Imam, a valued member of the medical staff at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg and OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, has died following an accident. Dr. Imam was a dedicated physician with Renal Care Associates who provided exceptional care to his patients and was beloved by his colleagues. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and three children, as well as the many coworkers and patients who were impacted by his life and service. At this time, we are respecting the family’s privacy and have no further comment.”
The crash remains under investigation.
