Derrick White Obituary, Death; – A 25-year-old individual has been charged in connection with a fatal accident that occurred on Halloween night, as reported by Asheville police.
The incident took place at approximately 8:31 p.m. at the Interstate 240 East on-ramp from Haywood Road in Asheville. A 2022 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound on Haywood Road when it reached the intersection with the I-240 East on-ramp. Concurrently, a maroon 2006 GMC Yukon, which was heading eastbound, attempted to make a left turn onto the I-240 East ramp and subsequently collided with the motorcycle, according to law enforcement officials.
The motorcyclist was transported to Mission Hospital for medical attention but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Derrick White.
On Thursday, authorities announced that Trevor Matthew Cagle has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to yield while making a left turn. Cagle voluntarily surrendered and was processed at the Buncombe County Detention Facility.
