Delores Phelps Obituary, Death; – Multiple agencies in Montgomery County are currently investigating a deadly fire that took place in the town of Florida, near Amsterdam. The incident occurred on April 13 at a residence located at 155 Abraham Road.
Firefighters arrived at the scene of the fully engulfed fire around 2:50 p.m. on Sunday. During their efforts, they discovered that the homeowner, 85-year-old Delores Phelps, was still inside the structure; however, the severity of the flames hindered any attempts to rescue her.
Phelps sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Montgomery County Coroner. Her remains were subsequently sent to Albany Medical Center for an autopsy.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has stated that there are currently no signs of foul play. The investigation into the fire’s cause is still in progress.
