David Holmes Jr Obituary, Death; – A man from Spanaway, who tragically lost his life in a high-speed accident outside the Monterra Apartments in Parkland, has been named by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office. David Holmes Jr., aged 65, passed away on June 14 near the intersection of 112th Street East and D Street East due to multiple blunt-force injuries.
The office reported that his death was classified as an accident in a news release. Deputies arrived at the scene of the single-car accident shortly before noon. The vehicle collided with a fence and a tree, as reported by The News Tribune. Both the driver, a 54-year-old woman, and Holmes were transported to a hospital.
Unfortunately, Holmes succumbed to his injuries while en route, according to a statement from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook. Evidence indicates that the crash was a “very high-speed collision” and that “to result in such a crash, the speed was significantly above the limit, indicating reckless driving,” stated Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deputy Carly Cappetto to The News Tribune at that time.
The driver is currently under suspicion for vehicular homicide and DUI. Deputies suspect that drugs were present in the vehicle, she mentioned. The woman was reported to be in critical condition upon her arrival at the hospital and has not yet been discharged, Cappetto noted on Friday. It remains uncertain when she will recover and be processed. The investigation is still ongoing.
