David Hawkins Obituary, Death;- An Omaha resident lost his life in a collision in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, after fleeing from law enforcement early on Sunday morning.
A statement from the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office indicates that a deputy noticed a 2021 Mercedes crossing the centerline on Highway 92 near Hope Lane at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Sunday.
The statement further explains that the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the Mercedes sought to evade the deputy, who had activated their emergency lights and siren.
As the Mercedes continued heading east, it ultimately veered into the south ditch, resulting in significant damage to the vehicle.
The driver, identified as 44-year-old David Hawkins from Omaha, suffered critical injuries in the incident. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene to administer life-saving efforts, but Hawkins was declared dead at the location.
In light of the severity of the crash, Traffic Accident Investigators were dispatched to the scene. The investigation into the cause of the accident is currently ongoing.
