David Andrew Mayers,Edwin Noel Diaz Obituary, Death; – A 35-year-old man from Lower Macungie Township has been identified as the individual who was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer in the borough early Sunday morning.
David Andrew Mayers was declared deceased at 4:25 a.m., approximately one hour following the incident that occurred in the 300 Block of South 3rd Street, which is part of Route 309. Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio confirmed Mayers’ identity in a statement released on Monday.
According to Buglio, the cause of death was determined to be blunt force injuries, and the incident has been classified as an accidental death. The investigation is being conducted by the coroner’s office, the Coopersburg Police Department, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, and the Lehigh County Crash Team.
This marks the second fatal pedestrian accident and the third roadway fatality in Lehigh County within a span of six days. On April 7, a 69-year-old woman from Allentown was killed after being struck by a vehicle on a city street.
Christie C. Tito succumbed to her injuries at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, four hours after the collision occurred at the intersection of Hamilton and Franklin streets, according to authorities. Additionally, a 21-year-old man from Allentown died from injuries sustained when his car went off an overpass and landed on Interstate 78. Edwin Noel Diaz was pronounced dead at 1:13 a.m. on Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.
