Dante Treggs Obituary, Death; – One of the two individuals who lost their lives in a devastating single-vehicle accident on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in West Covina has been identified as of Thursday.
The victim, Dante Treggs, aged 35, was confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office. It remains uncertain whether Treggs was operating the vehicle or was a passenger. The incident took place around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, as reported by the California Highway Patrol, on the westbound freeway near the Barranca Avenue on-ramp.
Authorities indicated that the cause of the 2021 Honda sedan’s deviation from the roadway as it neared the off-ramp is still unknown. The vehicle veered onto the right shoulder, collided with a metal-and-wood guardrail, struck a concrete slab, and then impacted a metal pole supporting an overhead freeway sign before igniting.
Investigators confirmed that both the driver and the front right passenger perished within the vehicle. It remains unclear if there were additional occupants. A SigAlert was issued at 5:50 a.m. to close the on-ramp to the westbound freeway, which was subsequently lifted at 9 a.m., according to the CHP.
