Danny Johnson Sr Obituary, Death; – The Jesup Police Department has reported that a victim has succumbed to injuries sustained during an armed robbery at the Quality Inn. According to police, the incident occurred on December 6, shortly after 11 p.m.
Officers discovered the victim, who recounted that he had been struck in the head with a firearm, rendering him unconscious and leaving him unattended for over a day. Authorities indicated that the assailants stole a significant amount of cash from the victim, along with various personal items, including his pickup truck.
The victim, identified as 69-year-old Danny Johnson, Sr., was subsequently transported to the hospital for medical care. With assistance from K9 handlers of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, investigators later located two individuals in possession of items belonging to Johnson.
Further inquiries resulted in the apprehension of Eric Stephens, 39, and Melinda Shingler, 39, as well as the recovery of Johnson’s vehicle. Tragically, Johnson passed away in the hospital following their arrest.
Both Stephens and Shingler have been charged with Felony Murder and Malice Murder. Additionally, Stephens faces charges of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Exploitation of an Elder, Theft by Taking of a Motor Vehicle, and Hindering a 911 call.
Shingler is charged with being a Party to the Crime of Aggravated Assault, a Party to the Crime of Armed Robbery, a Party to the Crime of Theft by Taking of a Motor Vehicle, and a Party to the Crime of Hindering a 911 Call.
