Daniel Homes Obituary, Death; – A police officer and a suspect lost their lives following a shooting incident on Saturday afternoon in McNairy County, as reported by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI). The suspect has been identified by TBI as 39-year-old Daniel Homes, while the identity of the officer has not been disclosed as of Sunday morning.
According to TBI, the incident began shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday when officers from the Selmer Police Department (SPD) responded to a report of a “suspicious person” outside a residence on New Bethel Road in Selmer. During this encounter, Homes opened fire on one of the officers, resulting in the officer’s death.
A second officer subsequently arrived at the scene and returned fire, fatally wounding Homes, as stated by TBI. Selmer is located approximately an hour and a half east of Memphis. TBI is leading the investigation into the fatal shooting and is working to determine the circumstances that led to the exchange of gunfire.
