Dalton J McCarty Obituary, Death: – In Jackson County, a tragic rollover accident claimed the life of a young man from Murphysboro early Monday morning. The incident occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Route 3, in proximity to Big Lake Road. Preliminary reports from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office indicate that 20-year-old Dalton J. McCarty was traveling south when his vehicle drifted off the left side of the roadway and subsequently overturned.
McCarty, who was the sole occupant of the car, was ejected during the incident and was pronounced dead at the scene. In the aftermath of the crash, authorities temporarily closed Route 3 for approximately two and a half hours to facilitate scene management and conduct an initial investigation. Responding to the scene were personnel from the Jackson County Ambulance Service and the Ava Fire Department.
