Connor Kasin Obituary, Death; – A 17-year-old hockey player tragically collapsed during a charity match in New York and subsequently passed away, according to authorities.
Connor Kasin, a senior at Massapequa High School located on Long Island, lost consciousness during a game held on Saturday night to support a foundation established by the parents of another local teenager, 19-year-old Sabrina Navaretta, who died in a car accident in April 2023.
The Nassau County Police Department reported in a news release that bystanders at the skating rink in Bethpage, New York, were administering CPR when officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene.
Kasin was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A police spokesperson indicated on Monday that no details regarding the cause of death were available. Massapequa High School communicated Kasin’s passing in a letter addressed to students and families, as reported by the New York Post.
“It is with great sorrow that we inform you that Connor did not survive. His loss is a profound tragedy for the Massapequa community, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to Connor’s family and friends,” the letter stated.
In a gesture of respect for Kasin’s family, the New York Islanders High School Hockey League, which oversees high school hockey events for Long Island schools, canceled all games scheduled for Sunday.
