Comarri Thompson Obituary, Death;- A man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with a drive-by shooting in North Austin this month that left a man dead and a woman injured.
Police said 25-year-old Kenan Greene was arrested in East Austin on Thursday, July 24. He has been booked into the Travis County Jail.
The Austin Police Department said 18-year-old Comarri Thompson was killed in the incident at the intersection of E. Braker Lane and Dessau Road.
Around 2:07 a.m. on July 19, officers responded to the scene at 804 E. Braker Lane. A woman was yelling for help, saying she had been shot and another person was dead, APD said.
Both the woman and a man, Thompson, were found on the scene with gunshot wounds. Thompson, who was pronounced dead on the scene, was identified as the woman’s boyfriend.
Investigators believe the couple were in a vehicle at the intersection when a white vehicle pulled up next to them and shot multiple times into their car, killing Thompson. The suspect vehicle then fled the scene, police said.
The woman was later taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
This is Austin’s 34th homicide of 2025.
