Cody Michael Beaudette Arrested; – A man from Slidell has been apprehended and is facing charges for allegedly striking and fatally injuring a 6-year-old boy in Slidell on Wednesday evening.
As reported by Slidell police, the hit-and-run incident occurred prior to 6 p.m. on Northshore Lane.
Authorities state that the 6-year-old boy was riding his scooter in a driveway when he was hit by an SUV, which failed to stop.
The child has been identified as Jeremiah Ramirez.
According to law enforcement, Ramirez was transported to a local hospital by his mother but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries later.
The SUV involved in the incident has been identified as a 2022 Gray Chevrolet Suburban, which was located on East Gause Boulevard on Wednesday night.
Police subsequently stopped the driver, 35-year-old Cody Michael Beaudette, who was then taken into custody.
Beaudette has been arrested and booked at the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, reckless operation, felony hit-and-run resulting in death or serious injury, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
