Christy Lafferty Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified the woman who was fatally struck by a vehicle in October while clinging to the exterior of a car in Southeast Portland as 42-year-old Christy Lafferty.
On October 24, police officers responded to the scene located in the 9900 block of Southeast Stark Street, where they discovered Lafferty with serious injuries. She was subsequently transported to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
According to officials from the Police Bureau, it is believed that Lafferty, a resident of Fairview, was holding onto the outside of a moving vehicle when she fell and was subsequently run over. The driver fled the scene but later communicated with investigators. While the driver has not been publicly identified, authorities have located and confiscated the vehicle involved.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation into her death is ongoing. Lafferty’s death marks the 55th traffic-related fatality in Portland for the year, with a total of 65 individuals having lost their lives in traffic incidents within the city as of Monday.
