Chloe Darnell Death; – Two people have each been indicted on multiple charges in Whitley County. Adam Hayes, 34, and Brittany Slaughter, 24, both of Williamsburg were charged with murder in connection to the death of four-year-old Chloe Darnell.
Hayes was indicted on charges of murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, first degree criminal abuse and persistent felony offender.
Slaughter was indicted on charges of murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, first degree criminal abuse and failure to report change in household size to receive public benefits.
The Whitley County Commonwealth’s Attorney office filed documents showing the intent to seek the death penalty for Adam Hayes in connection to the case. Officials said in a November 2023 court hearing that Darnell may have been the victim of corporal punishment.The two will be arraigned in Whitley County Circuit Court on Nov. 18.
