Cheryl Hiett Obituary, Death;- Delaware State Police said they’ve identified a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred June 15, killing pedestrian Cheryl Hiett on the side of the road. Police have not named the driver, a 23-year-old Milford woman, and charges against her are pending.
According to police, the woman’s 2012 Buick Lacrosse was traveling east on Bethel Road, west of Oneals Road, on Sunday night. Hiett then walked into the east lane and “into the vehicle’s path of travel”, said police. The Milford resident then fled.
The driver was arrested for a separate outstanding warrant. She has been committed to Sussex Correctional Institution. The investigation remains ongoing.
