Charisma Whaley Obituary, Death; – A pedestrian was tragically struck and killed on a highway in Smyrna on Friday morning, as reported by state police on Saturday.
The individual, identified as 31-year-old Charisma Whaley from Wilmington, was crossing South Dupont Boulevard, just north of Spring Meadow Drive, when she was hit by a dump truck and subsequently run over by a following vehicle, according to police reports.
The incident took place at 5:48 a.m. on Friday when Whaley stepped into the path of the truck, operated by a 65-year-old man from Dover, causing her to fall onto the roadway. She was then struck by a Ford Ranger, driven by a 20-year-old woman from Dover, as stated by the Delaware State Police.
Whaley was pronounced dead at the scene, and neither of the drivers involved sustained injuries, according to the authorities. The northbound lanes of South Dupont Boulevard were closed for approximately three and a half hours while the investigation, which remains ongoing, was conducted.
