Celso Garcia-Chingo Obituary, Death; – A fatal incident occurred last week at a roadway intersection in Castro County, resulting in one death and four injuries, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on Wednesday morning.
According to DPS, a 2013 Acura ILX was traveling east on FM 145 and approaching a stop sign at the intersection with FM 168 around 6:10 p.m. on November 13. Simultaneously, a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado was heading south on FM 168 toward the same intersection.
DPS indicated that the driver of the Acura did not yield the right of way to the traffic on FM 168, entered the intersection, and was subsequently struck on the driver’s side by the Chevrolet pickup truck. It is noted that there is no stop sign for vehicles on FM 168.
One of the passengers in the Acura, identified as Celso Garcia-Chingo, 41, from Hart, was transported to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital with life-threatening injuries and later succumbed to those injuries on November 15.
The 16-year-old male driver of the Acura, along with two other passengers, Raul Quino-Franco, 24, and Joaquin Rodriguez-Sima, 27, all from Hart, were taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock with non-life-threatening injuries and have since been treated and released.
The driver of the Silverado, who is from Amarillo, was also taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock with non-life-threatening injuries and has been treated and released.
The road conditions at the time of the crash were dry and clear, with a posted speed limit of 75 mph. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and DPS has stated that additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
