Carroll Grant Hughes Obituary, Death; – An elderly man is dead after a semi-truck crash near Ariton. Coroner John Cawley identified the victim as 81-year-old Carroll Grant Hughes of Troy.
Coroner Cawley says a semi-truck was stopped at a redlight on Highway 231 and Hughes hit the back of the semi.
Hughes was pronounced dead on the scene. His body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
The crash is under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
