Carra Niverson Obituary, Death; – An investigation is underway after a woman was struck and killed by a car in Omaha Thursday afternoon. A release from the Omaha Police Department says the crash happened just after 4 p.m. on Thursday near 10th and Martha Streets. Investigators say a woman, identified as 63-year-old Carra Niverson, was walking across the street on a marked crosswalk at the intersection.
A Jeep was stopped at the intersection as Niverson walked across the street. Police then say a Chevrolet then crashed into the back of the Jeep, causing the Jeep to strike Niverson.
Niverson was taken to Nebraska Medicine in critical condition, and later died of her injuries. The drivers of both the Jeep and the Chevrolet were taken to Nebraska Medicine. The driver of the Jeep had non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was taken for serious injuries.
OPD says the investigation is ongoing.
