Carlos Rios Obituary, Death;- A woman from the suburbs has been charged in connection with a crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway that resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries on Sunday.
The Illinois State Police arrived at the scene of the accident on southbound I-94 near 87th Street shortly after 9:15 a.m. on April 6. According to state police, a semi-truck was decelerating due to a stalled vehicle on the road when a 2021 Buick collided with it.
Carlos Rios, a 23-year-old passenger from Itaca, N.Y., was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The driver, identified as Tamia Rios from University Park, Illinois, along with her two other passengers and the driver of the stalled vehicle, sustained injuries.
Tamia Rios, 26, now faces charges including one count of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Resulting in Death and two counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Causing Great Bodily Harm, all classified as felonies.
She has been taken into custody and is currently awaiting her initial court appearance.
