Carlos Miranda Arrested; – A man has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide following the deaths of two women in an alleged DUI crash that occurred in Pueblo during the early hours of June 11.

In a news release dated June 12, police officials indicated that officers were dispatched to the northbound on-ramp of Interstate 25 at 13th Street around 2 a.m. after receiving a report of a vehicle involved in an accident that had come to a stop on the railroad tracks.

Upon arrival, police discovered two female victims, with one being pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was taken to a local hospital, where she succumbed shortly after arrival, as stated in the release.

Authorities identified the registered owner of the vehicle as 41-year-old Carlos Miranda, who reportedly confessed to driving the vehicle involved in the incident.

“He claimed that he was unaware he had struck two women and believed he had hit a dog,” officials from the Pueblo Police Department noted in the release. “The investigation determined that the two females were traveling southbound on the on-ramp, pushing a bicycle, when they were hit by the vehicle heading northbound on the ramp.”

The identities of the victims have not yet been released by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office. In addition to the two counts of vehicular homicide, Miranda has been charged with DUI. He was taken to the Pueblo County jail, where he remained as of June 12 on a bond of $150,000 cash or surety.
