Calvin Scott Obituary, Death; – The Canton Police Department is conducting an investigation following an incident in which a man was fatally struck by an SUV on Friday evening.
Officers from the Canton police arrived at the scene of the accident, located in the 3400 block of Harmont Avenue, at approximately 9:25 p.m. As per the investigators, a 2022 Ford Escape was traveling northbound on Harmont Avenue when it collided with a man who was crossing the street.
The pedestrian, identified as 41-year-old Calvin Scott from Massillon, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Sunday. The driver of the SUV did not sustain any injuries in the incident.
Authorities have stated that the driver is not suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. However, toxicology reports indicated that “alcohol was determined to be a factor for the pedestrian,” according to the police department.
