Brody Colon Obituary, Death; – An 11-year-old boy who tragically lost his life in a bicycle accident in Charlton earlier this month has been identified as Brody Colon, a resident of Charlton, as reported by the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

On July 10, firefighters were dispatched to 34 Jennings Drive at approximately 3:50 p.m. following a report of a bicycle accident involving a child, according to previous statements from the Charlton Fire Department. They quickly assessed that Brody had collided with a tree while riding an electric bicycle.

Due to the seriousness of Brody’s injuries, first responders requested a medical helicopter; however, UMass Memorial LifeFlight declined the request, citing heavy rain and flooding on that day, as stated by the fire department. Consequently, a ground transport unit from the hospital met a Charlton ambulance in Auburn, and the teams “worked together to continue delivering the highest level of care during transport to Worcester.”

Brody was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the fire department. No other vehicles were involved in the incident. Brody Jett Colon was born to Laynie Cristo and Albert “AJ” Colon on April 18, 2014, as noted in his obituary.

“Brody came into this world like a wrecking ball—with big, beautiful blue eyes and a fire in his soul,” his obituary states. “From the very beginning, he was full of personality, laughter, stubbornness, and love. An old soul, wise beyond his years, Brody had a deep sensitivity and understanding rare in someone so young.”

A proud athlete, Brody was a “dedicated member” of the Charlton-Dudley Rams, participating in both lacrosse and football, according to his obituary. He was also an honor roll student at Charlton Middle School and was preparing to enter the sixth grade in the upcoming fall.
Off the field, Brody flourished in the simple, beautiful moments—drawing, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends,” his obituary notes.

Brody had a passion for swimming and loved boogie boarding in the ocean, as mentioned in his obituary. His favorite destination was Indian Rocks Beach in Florida, which he frequently visited with his family.

Brody was close with his family, including his older brother, who he “looked up to as if he hung the moon,” and his younger sister, “who inspired in him a fierce sense of care and responsibility,” according to his obituary.

“He was the kind of soul that only comes along once — a heart bigger than most could dream of, a wildly creative spirit, and a spark that lit up every room,” his obituary reads. “Brody marched to the beat of his own drum — fearless yet cautious, free, and entirely his own.”

Brody died “doing what he loved most — being a kid: outside, full of life and joy,” according to his obituary. In addition to his sister and brother, he leaves behind his parents, maternal grandmother, paternal grandparents and many other beloved family members and friends.

“Brody’s spirit was bold, kind, and completely unforgettable,” his obituary reads. “His memory will live on in the laughter of kids at play, the roar of a game-day crowd, the crash of ocean waves, and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.”
