Braden Caldwell Obituary, Death; – A 15-year-old has been apprehended following the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Braden Caldwell at the WeGo bus hub in downtown Nashville, according to the Nashville Police Department. Authorities responded to the Elizabeth Duff Center at WeGo Central, located on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Reports indicate that the two adolescents engaged in a physical altercation on the second floor of the station prior to the outbreak of gunfire. Caldwell, who was identified by police later that evening, sustained two gunshot wounds. He was transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, whose name is withheld by The Tennessean due to the absence of adult charges, was identified with assistance from WeGo security personnel. Police noted that the station’s staff was already acquainted with the 15-year-old.
Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene towards 5th Avenue North and was taken into custody shortly before 7 p.m. at a residence on University Court. He has been charged with criminal homicide in juvenile court.
